The Third Day by Chochana Boukhobza

This was a book recommended to me by one of those online things that looks at your recent history and picks something out for you. I like using those because usually it finds something good for me. Anyways, here is my review:

This book is told in parts by various characters buy the principal ones are Elisheva, a cello prodigy, and Rachel, her student. They are in Jerusalem for 3 days for a concert. But both of them have other things on their agenda. For Rachel, Jerusalem means a time to connect with her family and her friends, including the man she loves and doesn’t seem to be able to let go of. For Elisheva, it is her last chance to get the revenge she has been hungry for since she was young. As the 3 days begin to pass by, their lives begin to spiral out of control as they each try to accomplish their goals.

I don’t know if I truly enjoyed this book or not. It was engaging and well-written. It was an interesting story and I never expected to end in the way it did. However, it went a bit slowly for my taste and I just didn’t feel satisfied at the end. I felt like the author hinted at the horrible things but kept skirting it; if it had been “revealed” at the end, it may have been better. But that’s just my opinion. You may think differently. So give it a shot and let me know if you found it to be better (or worse) than me!

Happy reading ~
